After spending an hour in Wal-Mart this morning, I felt I deserved lunch at Amanda’s in downtown Emporia, so off we went. Early. It was like 10:15, but I hadn’t had breakfast and I was starving and since I hadn’t had any protein all morning, I was about to have an episode!
So, this above is my surviving-Wal-Mart reward: a Turkey Ranch Hand sandwich (with bacon), cup of fresh fruit, and German Chocolate cake. Yum.
Now this is only half a slice of cake. Dave ate the other half.
Taking our order was the always-smiling, puppy-saving Alex Johnston.
Flowers brighten the entryway at the Kress building.
Purple flowers lean toward the window and the natural light. That gray slab is the outside sidewalk.
Fed-Ex, DHL, UPS each have a presence in the Kress lobby – in case you needed to know that.
On the bulletin board is a poster for the Country Stampede which is held at Tuttle Creek every June. Rascal Flatts! Sugarland! (Every time I post something about Sugarland, I get a truckload of hits on the website, so Sugarland, Sugarland, Sugarland.) Taylor Swift! Josh Turner! Kellie Pickler!
The hallway on the first floor of the Kress Building. When this building was renovated in the 1980s, they did a really swell job. It’s a lovely place.
From the second floor, looking down into Amanda’s.
