  1. News of Kansas’ admission to statehood crackled by Morse Code over the nation’s telegraph wires 150 years ago, several days later in California by Pony Express. Morse Code will be heard again from 10-4 on Jan. 29 at the Santa Fe Trail Amateur Radio Club Kansas 150th Birthday “Special Event” radio station at the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop and Farm Heritage Center in Olathe. Morse Code, plus voice transmissions on 14.250, 7.250, and 10.120 MHz.

A hands-on More Code exhibit will be available, sure to be an attraction for the kids. Radio contacts will be logged and QSL cards sent upon receipt of SASE. I’m not an official source of information, but can find someone who is, pegnichols@gmail.com, KD0VQO

  2. As a lifetime Kansan and local author I love your blog. Bev Buller recommended it to me and I’m hooked. I’m doubly blessed because my novel Feisty Family Values was one of the State of Kansas 150 Best Books. Now if I could just figure out the RSS field…hum. Happy Kansas Day!
