Wednesday afternoon I visited ESU to listen to poet Dan Spees of Hutchinson read poems from his new book: Asleep in the Orchard Grass.
The book was published by Woodley Press at Washburn University.
He earned his masters at ESU and some of the poems are set in Emporia.
I enjoyed the imagery in his work. And this line made me smile: “There are worse things than having no future.”
Spees teaches creative writing and American literature at Hutchison Community College.
