Tracey Graham, head honcho of the Emporia Farmers Market, dishes out some soup today at the Lyon County Extension Office, a fund-raiser for the Farmers Market.
I think this soup was sausage potato. My friend, Grace, and I both had the sweet potato-winter squash soup. It was very flavorful and had chunks of fresh ginger.

Or flautist, if you prefere. At City Market in KCMO, this gentleman played his flute beautifully. While drinking our coffee/chai off in the distance we could still hear him. He visited “How Great Thou Art” a few times.

Out with a broken foot, I missed all the nice markets in August and September, and now I just get the cold ones in October. It’s 42 degrees and chilly.
But, here’s Bob Karr selling apples and honey and cider. He said yesterday was probably the last bunch of school kids to tour The Orchard for [...]

Since I was up before 8 a.m. and since my foot is no longer casted, I hobbled around the Farmers Market this morning for the first time in seven or eight weeks.
Might’ve bought a pumpkin ‘cept they were too heavy to heft to the car. No veggie valets today.
Apples from the orchard that we visited [...]

I’m not sure but this may have been the first week for apples.
Mr. Solar, aka Shep, aka Farmer John, aka John Crisp, aka Rev. Crisp, prepares a reflector with which he will attempt to steal heat from the sun in order to cook food.
Alas, the sun did not cooperate. Milky [...]

From today’s farmers market. Tomatoes are winding down. The woman who used to bring a pickup load full only had one small table of about 50 tomatoes and a dozen people were huddled around that table before the bell.
But there’s still squash and plenty of corn on the cob, canteloupe, some blackberries, watermelon, baked goods, [...]

Not only was Rand Simmons at the Farmers Market today, he was there in O-fficial capacity as a market volunteer. And his kiddos were Veggie Valets today, looking for heavy sacks they could carry to people’s cars for them.
It was a chilly (some said comfortable) morning. Can you believe that it’s August 1st with a [...]
