Last Saturday when I was in Newton for a book reading/signing, friend and fellow author Beverley Buller took me out to lunch at Karen’s Kitchen.
It’s more than a restaurant, it’s a coffee shop, a hang-out place.
The blackboard has a list of upcoming musical guests
I had the black bean wrap and it was really good.

In the Netherlands a place where you buy pot is called a coffee shop.
So then, J.P., what do you call a place where you get coffee?
Since a few years Starbucks and some of her competitors have openend stores for yuppies and alike in places like Amsterdam.
To get coffee you go to a café, we do have some French words since our occupation by the troops of Napoleon Bonaparte, it is something like a bar or pub, or to a restaurant.
Looks like my kind of hangout.
