October is my designated Small Town Book Tour month. Now I probably should’ve taken September and October both off to do nothing but travel Kansas, but I had plenty to do here. And, September was a fabulous month. I had a wonderful book launch at Town Crier and was at their store signing books during the Great American Market event. SouthWind Gallery in Topeka hosted another outstanding book event and I’m grateful to the gang up there. In September, I put books in Wichita, Manhattan, Topeka, Lawrence and Kansas City, so I’ve already done a fair bit of traveling. And now it’s time to hit some smaller-sized towns.

So, I’m going to head off into the big, beautiful state of Kansas. Dave may be with me for some of my travels, but mostly I’ll just be out there checking in with friends across the state and visiting stores and libraries, peddling books, doing scheduled signings and talks along the way, maybe a few impromptu talks and readings. (The introvert is being shaken out of me. It’s a weird transformation, but that’s a story I have yet to write.)

I plan to keep up here on the blog and on Facebook. If you’re not yet a “fan” of Flyover People on facebook, please sign up.

Tomorrow, Friday, Oct 1, I’ll be visiting with Jeff O’Dell on “Talk of Emporia” on KVOE (11 a.m.)

Sat. Oct. 2 – In the morning I’ll have a booth in the park at Americus during the Americus Days celebration

Sun. Oct. 10 – 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 Olpe Kaffeehaus, 203 W. Bitler, book signing. Around 11 a.m., I’ll read a few pieces from the book.

Meanwhile, I’m scheduling other events in Concordia, Piqua, Chanute, El Dorado and am contacting folks in other communities. I’ll list the events here and on the Facebook Flyover People page as the dates and times become certain.

If you want me to come out to your town, send me an e-mail and maybe we can work something out. cheryl [at] flyoverpeople [dot] net.

  1. I think the small town tour is a great idea and consistent with what it is all about. As Sue B. told me, you will probably sell more in the small towns you’ve featured in the book than you would expect.

  2. Have fun, drive careful, be safe. And most of all, make sure your pencils are sharpened and there is plenty of ink in your pens and don’t forget the charger for your lap top, or you phone or your camera.
