Susie and Jim Aber won Best of Show for “Kite’s-Eye View,” an aerial photo taken at Presque Isle and Lake Erie in Pennsylvania.

It’s a team photo because they work together sending up the kite and camera and taking photos by remote control. You can see more of their photos on the Abers’ website, Geospectra, and learn about kite aerial photography there as well.

The open house for the Emporia Camera Club show was this afternoon in Beach Hall on the ESU Campus. The photos are on display in the Beach Hall rotunda for awhile, probably a month or so. No admission fee.

The judge’s comments on the Abers’ photo.

Betty Anderson of the Emporia Camera Club greets Keith Snell. Snell, of Wichita, judged this year’s competition. Keith Snell and his wife, Rebecca, are professional photographers and operate the website Spirit of Photography, which is an international community of photographers who share techniques and love of the art.

The Emporia Camera Club always welcomes new members – so if you love taking photos, sit in on one of their meetings.

The club meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month. (No meeting in August.)

Time: 7:00 p.m.
Location: Emporia Presbyterian Church, 802 Commercial.

  1. I love the kite pictures. I’ll have to make a trip to campus. I should try to make it to a camera club meeting one of these days. I’ve been meaning to for a long time.
