Flowers add a nice splash at the Farmers Market. The Emporia market opened for the season last Saturday. It begins at 8 a.m. and is at the parking lot on Merchant Street, between 7th and 8th Streets. Jim Wallace was selling these pansies.

Jim Wallace.

Jim Wallace’s table – eggs and greens  and jellies.

Shiloh Home had a fundraiser in the kiosk.

Linda and Wayne Simmons sold baked goods.

I bought some of this asparagus.  Bob and Christine Arndt of Americus grew this. Bob said today was their first time vending at the market. Welcome! We like asparagus.

The Arndts’ rhubarb. All wrapped so prettily.

Ducks. I didn’t get their story – don’t know if they were for show or for sale.

But they were cute little critters.

  1. Oh oh, that last picture, the violas. Look at their smiling little faces, so expectant. I’d have had to buy them just because they look like they want to go home with whoever is looking at them. Please, take me home! I’ll be a good little pansie!

  2. There were flowers at the market??? And, I thought I needed to clean house today….
speaking of taking them home, I was at L&L pets buying dog food for my 50 lb.Lab puppy and there was a kitten, a cute litte gray tigery kitten, just crying and crying. It was all I could do to get out of there and I’m still thinking about that poor sad little kitty. 🙁
