Harold Brenzikofer gets ready to fill a bag for a customer. Note the carrots. I had some of them two weeks ago and they were delicious. Today, I bought some spinach from him. A Bunny Bag. Made and sold by Mark Sherman. Savanna Chestnut performed at the market this morning.
Carrots!
Coveted vegetable of the day: fresh carrots. You have to get in line pretty early to get them. But the Emporia Farmers’ Market is stacked with plenty of green things. In February! Linda Simmons’ beautiful and delicious cookies. Mark Sherman’s recycled feed bags. He’s also looking for cat litter bags. He doesn’t have a cat …
Market 2.4.12
Some photos from our Indoor Winter Farmers’ Market, Feb. 4. Greens in February. There were even shades of orange: carrots. But I was a few minutes too late for them. There weren’t many and they went fast. Mark Sherman, showing off his cat-themed purses made of recycled materials. Flannel leopard lining. The always-colorful Steve Graham. …
Winter Frozen Market
Some photos from this morning’s Farmer’s Market. It’s in place until 1 p.m. today at the Lowther South Building. I like Jeanette’s strawberry preserves. New location
There were more customers than this picture indicates, but the new location for the Emporia Winter Farmers’ Market seemed to work pretty well yesterday. It’s now held inside the old Lowther South school on the first and third Saturdays of the month, through April.

Flavorlicious
Nate and Tanya Jobe Today at the Indoor Farmers Market, I stopped by the Flavorlicious booth. I’ve missed a few markets and hadn’t run across these folks before. What makes their products different from other baked goods? It’s what they leave out: gluten, dairy, yeast, etc. I tried their pumpkin muffins and I really liked …
Herb Man
Roy Stanton sells herb plants, and other things, at the Emporia Farmers’ Market.
Kuchera Rub
Meet Drew Kuchera. He’s a regular vendor at the Emporia Farmers Market. I stopped by his table again today – for some more blackberry jam, and I also picked up a jar of banana peppers this time. With the purchase of two items of canned goods, he gave away samples of his steak seasoning, so …
