While in Olathe last week, I found the Ernie Miller Nature Center, just off K-7. You can hear the sounds of traffic out here, but other than that it was almost like being in the real woods. Lots of trails, an information center with a focus towards kids.

Glad you found that spot Cheryl. They do have extensive programs, many for kids. The owl and hawk are used in many of the programs.
A bit of irony involved there also. Ernie was a newspaper editor in town and a real estate agent. As his daughter said when they named the park, ‘Dad would be spinning in his grave if he knew that they named a park rather than a sub-division after him’
I think that’s a yellow violet. We have the little blue violets all over our back side yard this year, in bloom right now.
