This is Cutter. He lives in Indianapolis. Cutter wanted me to tell the world that today is his best friend’s birthday.

So, on behalf of this sweet dog: Happy Birthday, Ray Randolph!

You may know him as Helianthus 43.

I think it was about two years ago that Ray first e-mailed me, saying that he enjoyed the Flyover People site. Through our correspondence, Ray has become a good friend and a valuable member of the Flyover family.

Ray resides a few states right of us, over in Indiana, but he yells for the Jayhawks. He grew up in Central Kansas – in Geneseo, Frederick, Bushton, Hoisington. Ray went to college in Winfield and then finished his studies in Indiana. Prior to his nursing studies, he spent a lot of time learning Latin, Greek and German, so he’s handy in the languages.

Before his retirement, Ray spent many years as an OR nurse, but at home, he sat in front of the computer writing crime novels. He’s written and self-published a number of books. I’ve read four of them and now have my hands on “Hits and Misses” and am looking forward to starting that one.

I haven’t met this affable man in person yet, but hope to some day. Cutter says he’s a good guy. And who wouldn’t believe Cutter?

  1. Thank you all for the birthday wishes. The girls are visiting relatives today so Cutter and I spent a quiet “spring-like” day that included a walk around the neighborhood. The weather was quiet also until a few minutes ago when it started pouring down rain.
    Cutter sends his greetings.
