Beverley Buller visits with Roger Heineken at yesterday’s book-signing in Town Crier bookstore. (OK, so Roger looks a little serious here, but that’s just because he’s listening intently.)

Today at 2 p.m., you can hear Beverley Buller talk about William Allen White at the William Allen White State Historic Site at 10th and Exchange in Emporia.

Beverley’s book, published last summer, is “From Emporia: The Story of William Allen White.” She’s a middle school librarian in Newton and wrote this book primarily to introduce William Allen White to the youth of Kansas (and beyond.)

These two people, Beverley Buller and Roger Heineken, are experts on the life of Emporia’s favorite son, William Allen White, an internationally recognized and respected 20th Century journalist. Roger is host of the ongoing “On the Porch” series.

Today’s talk is on the beautiful porch of the William Allen White home and is a public event. There is no charge to attend. Donations will be accepted for the continued upkeep of this historic site.

P.S. This is a great book, a beautiful book. The story of White is well told and well illustrated with dozens photos of White and his family, and includes pictures of historical mementos. “From Emporia” is written for younger readers, but every adult who has picked up this book has admired and enjoyed it.
