…but still not the healthiest food choice. After 24 hours in the house, I was feeling trapped by the weather, so we escaped to Braum’s for lunch.

They put mayo on their burgers here. Had I known, I’d have said STOP!
I prefer ketchup and mustard. So, I scraped off the mayo the best I could.

OK, Flyover Readers – here’s a poll:

What do you prefer on your burgers?

Ketchup and mustard?

or Mayonnaise?

  1. We do meatless burgers——–
And we usually do Ketchup and mustard & Mayonnaise & onion & avocado & lettuce & tomato.
Or we do barbeque sauce & onions & lettuce & tomato & fake bacon.
Oh——– & cheese! Almost every kind of cheese works well——
or we do a combination of those.
We eat pickles on the side——not on the burger!

  2. We also like grilled mushrooms & onions & cheese on the meatless burgers!

Only places we have found eatable meatless burgers out side of home is in Lawrence, Ks. & Branson, Mo. & Freddie’s in Eldorado & Wichita their meatless burgers are eatable but not the best!

  3. Let’s see. We usually put tomatoes, pickles, onions for both of us. I like mustard and mayonnaise usually, but sometimes I like ketchup. Sometimes I like horseradish mustard.

Larry likes mustard, no mayonnaise. Once in a while ketchup. And often horseradish mustard.

I also like turkey burgers better than beef burgers, usually. But I still love a beef burger too.

Just to be sure I was right, I asked Larry what he likes on his burgers. Then I posted some more. He said, with a hopeful rise in his voice, “Is someone bringing us hamburgers?”

Don’t worry, we’ve got food in the house. LOL We’re having roast for dinner, although after this discussion, I think we’d really love a hamburger.

Does anyone feel an FOP get together at a hamburger place coming on? Who has the best hamburgers?

  4. No sauce please unless it’s BBQ. Lettuce, pickles, onions and tomatoes. Nothin’ fancy. Cheese once in a while.
And Janet, our Trade Winds Bar and Grill has great burgers. also Chiken sandwiches. You can get just a plain grilled chicken or a chicken cordon blue with ham and cheese on it, or a June Cooper- grilled chicken with grilled onions and green peppers with or without cheese. They also have numerous other sandwiches and sides and a lunch special everyday with home made pies.

  5. That place sounds good. When the weather permits, and you have a day off at the same time, and you are free at the same time, let some of us know so we can head up and get a hamburger or chicken sandwich with you. I’ll have a hamburger. I don’t eat chicken, ever.

  6. At home, Doc and I love New Mexican-style smothered burgers:

The burger itself – either grilled on wood or broiled. If it’s beef, it has to be grass-fed. Period. Grass fed lamb or buffalo is also good. We also love many many kinds of veggie burgers. I’d eat more pork, turkey or chicken burgers if I could get good-quality (pasture raised, organic) ground meats.

Cheese. Chopped onions. Beans. More cheese.
New Mexican green chile – chopped, or NMGC sauce. More cheese.
Lots of Lettuce. Chopped avocados and tomatoes if in season.
Serve hot corn torillas on the side for mopping up all the gorgeous juices.
    Mmmmmmmmmm…

Out – We rarely eat meat burgers unless we know where the meat came from. I’m much more likely to order a veggie burger than a meat burger, but they’re not available that many places. One exception to my I-gotta-know-where-the-meat-came-from rule (which I can neither explain NOR justify) is any time I’m in a small town cafe and the special is meatloaf, I have to try it. Like I said, I can’t explain it.

So – when are we meeting at J’s? As soon as the roads clear? Count me in!
