This is Spearville. Note the wind turbines in the background – just north of the city. Spearville, pop. 858, is in Ford County.
The town has a great grocery store. One side of the store had food, the other side had more gift-like items and miscellaneous things.
I spoke with a lady in the store, asked her about the wind turbines. Dave and I had driven past them, up close, and didn’t hear a thing. I asked her if they ever heard them. “Just a whoosh sometimes,” she said.
The store had a nice meat counter at the end of the aisle.
At the checkout, I saw something that I hadn’t seen in many years ….
Counter checks! It just brought joy to my heart to see counter checks – because that’s the way things used to be, when people were known and trusted and you didn’t have to show ID to pass a check.
There are two banks in Spearville and both were represented here.
I have a very close friend who lives outside of Spearville in the boonies!!!!!!!!
I have not been to see here for several years now——–boy the wind blows out there——–& few trees!!!!!!!!!
No wonder they have wind turbines!!!!!!!!!! I have never been there that the wind was not blowing a real gale!!!!!!!!!!
Back then I was skinny & had to carry an anchor with me!!!!
