Yesterday, Tom Haskett pulled in the driveway as I was carrying in grocery sacks. He helped lug a few bags to the front door.

“This will get me out of the doghouse for that comment I made the other day, won’t it?” he asked.

“Oh gosh, I’d forgotten all about that,” I said. “But – thanks for reminding me…”

Tom is forgiven. All is well.

  1. Cheryl, I am glad I am out of the doghouse. I came by your house at the right time to redeem myself. I am really enjoying your presentation of small towns. In the mid 1960’s I used to drive on U.S. 50 to Hugoton Kansas. I thought the High School building in Sylvia was beautiful. The old high school building in Kincaid Kansas must have had the same builder.

  2. Well, you didn’t really need to “redeem” yourself, Tom. The monkey comment made me laugh – it was funny – and just so ab-so-lutely unexpected. 😉
