Yard ornaments. Me and my brother, Leon, ages 1 and 3.

It’s funny how birthdays (yes, today) send us back in time. I remember one year, it was the year I turned 30 …(insert harp music) … that was the year that it didn’t rain on my birthday. The sun was shining, it was warm, and the sky was clear. That was a good day and a good year. And, a very long time ago.

Whoops, one of the yard ornaments is escaping. Gotta go catch her….

  1. What does this year’s graduates have in common with Cheryl? She celebrated her 30th birthday and they were born.
It seems like just last week our most important decision was which car do we take cruising Main in Great Bend. Yours, it had a heater that worked, mine, which had a radio, or Karla’s. Oh no, not Karla’s, it might not start again if we shut it off in a bar parking lot.
Where has the time gone? I think of you often, and enjoy your site.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY ERCHYL!!!!!!!

  2. Geez Cheryl, I can’t imagine that you are older than thirty! No way!!!!
AND you share your day wiht my favorite ex- pro football player- D.J.
Hope your day is sunny and beautiful like you! Looking outside right now— it’s got a great start!

  3. A very Happy Birthday to you, Cheryl! I’m so glad one of your commentaries on KPR led me to your website and to you. You are a delight.

Spring has sprung; Tiger has returned; life is good (semicolon use in your honor). Whew, writing to an English major can be intimidating. However, according to the Writing Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, “By using semicolons effectively, you can make your writing sound more sophisticated.” Hope you are impressed.

Enjoy your day, the beautiful weekend and the year ahead!!! May you remain forever young!

  4. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHERYL!!!

That baby picture of you is so cute, and I can see you in it. Look how amazingly blonde your hair is!

Hope you have a wonderful birthday!

  5. What adorable children! I like the way you are smiling as you make your “escape,” especially compared to the first picture–when you were plotting how to get away!! So Cute!!
    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

  6. It was overcast and sprinkling when I got home from work. Then a while later the sky cleared and the sun shone. It must have been about the time you were hoisting a Bud Light and smiling while you were doing it.
    Happy Birthday.
