I love daffodils! My mother has–oh, so many! Years ago, a Woodbine native, Grant E. Mitchell (who was quite an onery youngster according to my dad) married my Great-Aunt Eleanor and they moved to Oregon where he developed interesing and new kinds of daffodils. (I think they had 8 or 9 children, too) http://www.web-ster.com/havensr/mitsch/history.html
Thank you, Cheryl! Thanks for putting the picture of the daffodil on, which made me think of ordering daffodil bulbs from my cousins in Oregon. I tried to email them but it came back “undeliverable,” so I called and had a GREAT visit with my cousin Elise whom I have never met. She and her husband took over the greenhouse nursery from her dad when he retired, so she’s sending me a catalog. I also found out that her daughter is a sp. ed. teacher living in Olathe! WOW! I even found out that dear greataunt Eleanor had 10 children! (Imagine that, 10 children!) One died from whooping cough when he was just a baby and the other died when she was two. Elise has never been to Kansas, but, especially since her daughter lives here, wants to come to see Kansas!
Isn’t it funny that one little thing (like a picture of a daffodil) can have a “domino” effect?

That’s way cool, ele. Hope you get to meet your extended family. And the daffodils will be extra special ’cause they’re “family” bulbs.
My knowledge of flowers is limited to a short list, but that yellow one here is beautiful. The hospital where I work has daffodil days in April.
