This evening, Marci Penner spoke at the annual Friends of the Plains Dinner at Emporia State University. Friends of the Plains is part of the Center for Great Plains Studies at ESU. Jim Hoy directs the program.
Marci gave a great program – a slide show of “Explorery” places to visit in Kansas. If you don’t already have her book, “Kansas Guidebook for Explorers,” you should pick up a copy.

I went to the Town Crier today and bought the Explorer book. Interesting that “Bobbie Pray” was the editor. She was going to school at Hope when I was teaching 1st grade with her aunt, who taught 4th. Her aunt was a very good friend of mine and she was so proud of her two nieces! Years ago, I think I heard that Bobbie (well, sometimes Doris called her ‘Roberta’) was already exploring Kansas with a friend and writing about it.
