What’s more fun than a funnel cake?
Well, probably a lot of things.
Nevertheless, I had my first funnel cake experience last night at the county fair. I know – I live in funnel cake land, but had never had one. Dave and I split this powdered sugared, deep-fat fried dessert.
And yes, they are made with a funnel. (Peeking in through the funnel cake trailer window.)
I love this stuff! It’s so….carney!
Funny that you are discovering this in Kansas. If I see any gravy put on it, I am going to know exactly where I am.
Having a great time in Thomas County. Wish you were here!

Had me some of those this week also at Silver dollar City. They are good! My daughter in law was thinking about getting a kit for my son for Christmas so he can make his own.
Your funnel cake confession caught me by surprise. I thought the basic food groups enjoyed by EVERYONE at a Kansas fair/festival were corn dogs, Indian tacos, and funnel cakes!
I had such a bad experience with a funnel cake as a kid, it was years before I could walk through a carnival without turning green. I can tolerate the smell now, but wouldn’t dream of eating one.
Glad you enjoyed yours!
We made funnel cakes as a fund rasier for the community theater at Old Settlers Days here in Olathe a few years ago. They are wonderful to eat (f they are good) but believe me, after making ’em for 10-12 hours a day for 3 days, that smell takes looooong time to get our of your hair & off your skin!!!
