Sixth and Commercial – at about 4:15 this afternoon. It was raining slush. Now, at about 5:30, flakes the size of silver dollars are falling.
the perfect storm
Duck and cover. Don’t know what we’ll get, but snow is headed this way. It’ll be worse out west, though. They’ve already closed schools for the day in western and central Kansas: RAIN WILL CHANGE TO SNOW BY EARLY AFTERNOON FROM LINCOLN TO RUSSELL TO GREAT BEND…AND THEN CHANGE TO SNOW ACROSS THE REMAINDER OF …

…tulips and lilacs …crabapple tree …dogwood April 5: 30 degrees, and it’s snowing. And gasoline jumped from $2.55 to 2.69 today.
Buddy, can you spare…
… a ray of sunshine? The gray clouds are crushing me. I need a blast of blue, a dash of sun. We’ve had clouds for, I don’t know, two weeks now? I’m sure there was some sunshine scattered amongst the days somewhere, but the gray obliterates any memory of clear skies. My mind is murky. …
Brother Wind
We may have had no wind yesterday, but it seldom leaves us alone for long. Like a good big brother, it always returns to pummel you. 😉 Update: at 4 p.m., there was a fire at the city limits on the east side of town. Late afternoon update from The Gazette: Fire consuming cars, pole …

Kansas: Something for Everyone
I was watching a TV station out of Wichita this afternoon. They were covering a block-long blaze in Wichita which had likely been started by a cigarette. Dry grass caught fire and the 40 mph wind gusts moved the fire down the block lickety-split. Homes were burned, schools were evacuated. So, the meteorologist was giving …
49 degrees and sunny
You may have noticed that I’ve quit complaining about winter. Because we finally got a BREAK, that’s why. I had forgotten how hair gets tangled when one drives with the windows down. It’s ponytail season again. 🙂
What Morning Looks Like
The view from my porch – about 7:10 this morning.
Blue Sky
The temperature is above freezing. I’m wearing only two long-sleeved shirts today instead of three. I don’t work at Wal-Mart. Life is good.
