I was in Lawrence on Monday to attend a workshop and dropped by to say hi to this colorful guy.

  1. Why when the official name is the University of Kansas are the letters KU used rather than UK? Just asking. That is like ESU being called USE.

  2. J.P. It’s a he. I raised his tailfeathers and took a look.

Roger – If I remember right, it used to be called Kansas University – when I attended. The T-shirts I bought at the time said “Kansas University.” At some point, they switched it around to the U of KS.

  3. Don’t know if it makes a difference out your way, but around here “UK” is a “dirty word” because it refers to the University of Kentucky.
