If I lived in Council Grove, I’d probably hang out here a lot. Fresh coffee, bakery, free wi-fi, books.

  1. I like the name too. One of the problems though in today’s society is the evolution of coffee shops into what we have today.

I remember going to coffee shops 45 years ago and listening to people rant and solve the problems of the world over their coffee. Today they sit down and open their computers.

It’s a mixed thing I guess. I too want places out there where I can sit down and open my computer. But I miss some things about the “old days” too.

Maybe it’s just as well. My son was in a bookstore the other day that had a coffee shop in it. He was sitting there reading, and some man started raving on about anything and everything wrong with the world. The guy blamed it on any minority you could come up with, race, religion, the gays specifically in SF, oh and elsewhere too. He blamed Muslims and Buddhists and so on. Oh yes, Jews too. Women. I think if the world could have gotten down to old, white, male radical conservatives the guy might have found perfection in that. LOL

My son got up and left. Who wants to listen to that?

So, maybe in today’s climate of extremes on both sides, it’s just as well that coffee shops have wifi and people using their computers over their coffee.

I’m an old lady who longs for the “good old days.” Did they ever really exist? In people’s minds I suppose.
