Usually I wash the car myself. I plunk in three bucks in quarters and use the wand, spray the soap and spray the rinse and go along my merry way.  But the other day, I thought it would be fun to hit the automatic car wash.

And fun, it was! I hadn’t been through an automatic car wash for decades, probably since I was a kid riding in the car with my mom and the big blue and white brushes would bear down on the hood and then beat on the windshield like a hurricane. That was always pretty cool.

This was just a spray, no twirling brushes.

A clean car is a happy car. Righto.

And, hey, the Dari Delight next to the car wash on Twelfth has been sold. Wonder what’s going in?

  1. Cheryl, why don’t you wash your car in your driveway rather than the 3 dollar place where you have to do it yourself anyway?

That’s a serious question. I’ve never gone to one of those places, and have wondered if it would be worth it. Of course, my car gets pretty dirty!

  2. Because, to wash it at the car wash takes about $3 and about 5 minutes. The high-pressure wand makes quick and easy work of it.

If I washed the car at home, I’d have to get out the hose, get a bucket, find the soap, get a sponge and spend 30 minutes swirling soap and spraying water on the car.

I don’t want to mess with all of that.

If I wanted to do it at home, that may be an option in the summer, but in the winter, it would create an ice slick in the driveway and I’d have to drain the hose so it wouldn’t freeze…
