Upcoming Events at the Kansas Wetlands Education Center at Cheyenne Bottoms in Barton County.

Winter Programming
Designed for children ages 6 through 12, one-hour programs will be offered at no
charge from 10:00 -11:00 am each Saturday. The only exception is the first program,
which will run from 9:30 – 11:00 am. Children age 7 and younger must be accompanied
by an adult. Registration deadlines in sequential order of the classes are Febr.
10, Febr. 17 and Febr. 24 and March 3. To register for classes, or for more information,

for supplies are always appreciated.

February 12th –  Special Time 9:30 – 11:00 am
MASTERS OF THE NIGHT

Who hunts soundlessly throughout the night, striking terror in the hearts of rodents?
Owls of course. Learn more about these masters of the night skies, with special
appearances by live screech and great horned owls. Participants will also have the
opportunity to dissect an owl pellet and make a bone chart.

BACKYARD BIRD COUNT

Identify the birds that visit your winter yard, learn some fun facts, participate
in the national BACKYARD BIRD COUNT at the KWEC and make a birdfeeder to take home
and attract your own backyard birds.

What makes a mammal a mammal and not a bird or reptile? Find out what makes mammals
special and create your own squirrel.

NATURE’S MARVELOUS INVENTIONS

Discover where people found ideas for Velcro, airplanes, armor and paper – just
a few inventions already in use by plants and animals. Play a game and make your
own invention or one we will all try together.

Wings N’ Wetlands Festival
