One hundred and fifty years! This entire year we’ll celebrate, but today in particular.

Today, find some way to recognize, celebrate, treasure Kansas.

If you’re looking for ideas, check the calendar on the Kansas 150 site. Or you can look over Marci Penner’s list of Kansas Day-ish places in every county.

And, if you’re not already a member, today would be a perfect day to join the Kansas Explorers Club.

Tonight at 6 p.m., wherever you are, please raise a glass and toast our dear old Kansas.

And, basketball fans all over will be watching the Sunflower Showdown. KU vs. K-State tonight at 6 p.m. on ESPN.

Well, we’re off on a Kansas adventure….

  1. One of my Facebook friends was born on the centennial of Kansas and has a certificate certifying he was a centennial baby. Yes, Ed Funston, descendant of Gen. Fredrick Funston, is 50 today.

I want to know how many babies were born on the centennial day, and when records can be compiled, how many were/will be born today.

  2. There was at least one baby born on Kansas Day in Emporia. The mother picked out a bunny with a sunflower heart and a sunflower tail!
