This spot used to be a bar and then the Yellow Sub Shop. That old little gray shack with the boardwalk/deck on front grew up into this massive hotel, The Oread. This is just up the street (north) from the Kansas Union.

  1. I loved the Oread! We stayed there a couple of weeks ago and it was one of the best I’ve ever stayed–it was like being in a castle (where DID they get all that rock?) and we had many of the sessions in the basement (or lower level) and it reminded me of the Harry Potter stories. You should check out the bathrooms–rock, rock, rock! We did go eat lunch a few times at the Union–just a block away, I think. Great place!

  2. Oh…this is where the old Rock Chalk bar was, right? Not going to address how many liquid meals may or may not have been consumed in that location by any given person when that person was a college student…:D 😀 😀

Will have to go visit it. I bet the apartment my best friends used to live in was torn down too, it was right to the west of there.

  3. For most of my time there, the building at the T-intersection was Yellow Sub. But before that, it was maybe… The Catfish. I’m not sure the name – Something to do with sea/water/fishing. There were fishing nets or something outside on the deck, entry way.
