  1. Oh gee , let me see. The wind, the sky, the beautiful sunrises and sunsets(I look at way more sunsets than sunrises). I love the folks who are always friendly(except when they aren’t)LOL. Kansas is home and peace and comfort. Laid back and easy going. Well what’s not to love?

  2. Mmmmmm… my favorite about Kansas is captured in the wonderful photos that you and Dave present. I believe the photo on the cover of your book says it all. That would be an excellent “wallpaper” choice for all Kansas computer screens. Both of you are appreciated more than you may realize. nuff-sed

  3. I really enjoy the wide open spaces of Kansas, and the wonderful people. I learned to appreciate all of this, when I lived on the East coast. Couldn’t wait to move back “home”!

  4. Since I know absolutely nothing about the state itself, I’ll say that I like the fact that Kansas’s name is contained in that of another state (Arkansas).

  5. My favorite thing about Kansas is the mystery of the very small towns. Observing the cohesiveness in the people in towns with fewer than 1,000 people just amazes me. Wondering how many generations of a family have been in a small town, any small town. I sometimes wonder how a town bully can happen, or why people engage in small town gossip. Then I realize that no matter how great a small town, it is made up of people of all sorts. And stuff happens, wonderfully amazing, plain ol’ good, everyday neutral, and the occasional bad.

All in all, small town living is pretty good!

  6. my favorite thing about kansas is the changeing country from east to west. in the east its hills and woods to hills and grassland and the farther west you travel the flater it gets and when the wheat is headed out and the wind blows it looks like waves on the sea.the lighting and thunder in spring the trees in the fall the small ponds to the big lakes and small streams to big rivers. the hard working farmers and hard working small town people. i guess that it lots of things so i guess my favorite thing is living here!!

  7. Max said it for me . . . The changing landscape from east to west. Traveling back and forth from the state line in the southwest corner of Kansas to eastern Kansas has such a variety of scenery. Also the beautiful sunsets and sunrises – which Dave captures so well – are absolutely awesome. In fact, they are breath taking. However, the best about Kansas is the insight that we have each received here on FOP through your postings and your commentaries . . . and your book! Gaining the knowledge that we are priviledged to gain and receive makes Kansas an even greater state, because we know more about it and what it has to offer.

  8. Thinking about Kansas, brings a smile to my face and peace to my soul. You can truly see God’s magnificent beauty when you look at the waving fields of wheat, the beautiful sunrise/sunsets and gracious people. Kansas will always be my “home”, no matter where I am. Thank you Cheryl for all the wonderful pictures that help keep Kansas in my heart.

  9. Sky. Wind (western Kansas wind). And people.

Kansans are, as a group, very friendly. I’ve never been any other place where folks will nod and smile and stop to chat with a stranger on the sidewalk just to say welcome to Kansas.

  10. When you are from Kansas you can move…Kansas will always stay in your heart forever. You will always be homesick for Kansas because of good memories.
