Emporia’s Town Crier Bookstore was the place to be today if you are a writer or a reader. I’m not sure on the total number of authors who showed up, but it was in the 50-some range.  I didn’t get to talk with them all, just seven or eight, maybe nine.

It’s fascinating to talk to these people because each one had his or her particular reason for writing their book(s) – and it’s fun to find out what those reasons are.

Applause to Becky and Marla and the entire crew at Town Crier for putting on this huge event.

This evening – yet ANOTHER book signing event at Town Crier.

  1. Cheryl, I want to thank you for this photo. I’m the author in the short sleeved black shirt, and you just happened to snap this shot with Dr. Carol Marshall in the same frame (beautiful white hair, long sleeved black shirt). Carol was a professor of mine years ago at what was then Kansas State Teacher’s College. We struck up a conversation and she bought one of my books, my only sale of the day other than the copies the store purchased. I recognized you from your newspaper photo and column, of which I’m a fan, and so checked your blog today for news of the Author Extravaganza.

  2. I went to buy Diane Gladow’s book and ended up buying 4 more–I’d like to have bought a book from everyone–but I forced myself out of the store! I did see Cheryl, who was looking very pretty!
Didn’t the air just seem “electric” with all those BOOKWRITERS
