Since “weather” season is here, let me point out some valuable links.

Over there on the right, under Cool Sites

At the top you’ll find 511 KDOT. This gives current road conditions (and construction zones) across the state. The blue rectangles (mostly on I-70) indicate cameras so you can take a peek at the roadways. Cool, huh? And color-coded roads show you where the snow/ice is.

I also draw your attention to a new link I’ve just posted – National Weather Service – Topeka. Here you’ll find radar, weather maps, lists of watches and warnings. If you live in another part of Kansas (or the U.S.) you can find a weather station closer to you. In Kansas, there are also NWS stations in Wichita, Goodland and Dodge City.

Also Wunderground- Emporia is a great site for weather information (again, you can change the location to your particular area.) Wunderground is a quick way to find the local forecast. During the winter, I find the hourly forecast very beneficial.

So, if you’re just wondering whether to wear a jacket or a coat as you head out the door, or if you’re taking a trip during the winter, these links will help provide the travel information you need.

Speaking of links, I did some clean up in that area this morning, shuffled things around, added some, deleted some, but hopefully you’ll still find your favorites there, somewhere.
