Demolition work is still in progress at the site for the new Arts Council in the 800 block of Commercial in downtown Emporia.
Apparently this building, the old Dayton’s Hobby Store, is going to be partially saved to protect the integrity of the Granada Theatre building which shares a wall.
The front of the building is being removed, but the two walls and the back will remain.
Bev at the Granada Coffee Co. said that the people who are doing demolition salvage and recycle everything they can and are thus taking care while removing the front brick by brick.
Green recycling is good.
