Methinks, because I really, really like sunrise, sunset, wide open spaces, wallpapers, ‘twoud be very nice to have this in “wallpaper” format.. hint, hint… ! I truly like the pinkish effect in transition from blue skies to green foreground. Awesome picture anyway..! Thank you for that.
Jenni, your poem reminded me of the lyrics of a song by The Fleetwoods. For me a sunset has a tone of melancholy, a day gone with an afterglow of remembrance of that day. I had posted a link to that song but it does not now appear. My Daily News is loading strangely which may be part of the problem.
Yes, it’s the first verse of “Taps”. There are a few more. I learned the words when I was a Scout leader (Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts). I also learned a very sad story about how “Taps” came to be written and played for the first time, but I guess it was just an urban legend. The Wikipedia article has the rest of the lyrics and several different stories. I always get choked up when I hear it, whether at a Memorial Day service, funeral, or sung around a campfire. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taps
I’ll have to go look for Roger’s song now!
Can’t wait to see this myself. Gorgeous, Cheryl. So telling in it’s simplicity…

Ralph got his wallpaper via email . Figured I’d better say something here or y’all might think I was ignoring him.
Gorgeous. I just love it.
Wow, those are some lovely prairie colors.
Gone the sun
From the lakes
From the hills
From the skies
All is well
Safely rest
God is nigh

TRAGEDY -Words and Music by Gerald H. Nelson and Fred B. Burch
Wind and storm
Gone’s the sun
From the stars
My dark has come
You’ve gone from me,
Whoa, whoa, tragedy.

Rog, the reason your post didn’t appear was because it has a link. Any post which includes a link is sent to me for my approval (anti-spam thing.)
So – that’s why the delay. I was away from my computer. It’s posted now.
Any ideas why the “Day is Done…” post doesn’t appear on my Daily News, Cheryl? I can only get to it by clicking on viewer’s comments.
Jenni was quoting “Taps” which… always makes me, um, sniffle. Especially to hear a long bugle play it at a cemetery or memorial service.
Hmm, nope, Rog, I don’t know. Are you getting other stuff – like the train and the “Gone the Sun” post?
I see the “Gone the Sun” post with pano. I love that title inspired by Jenni’s poem which also made me think of the song.
I didn’t realize that Taps had lyrics. Learn something new every day!!
Ralph sent this link – all about Taps. http://www.tapsbugler.com/WordstoTaps.html
