911-1

Anthony, Kansas, has a September 11 Memorial in a city park. After the terrorist attacks, the community of Anthony wanted to do something. They made contact with the family of one of the firefighters who died that day. Good will was shared and eventually this memorial was built. The story is told here.

  1. This brought tears to my eyes. Very moving, the whole thing.

Even children climbing on it. So appropriate somehow, the contrast of the horror of that day, and the normal activity of life in how children play.

And gathering the cicada shells, that reminds me of a symbiotic relationship. The memorial gets the advantage of the children’s scavanging, and the children get to climb on something.

There’s just something so right in this whole thing.
