In Marci Penner’s book, Guidebook for Kansas Explorers, she writes: The Harper Study and Social Club donated the fountain tot he city in 1909. Complete with water troughs, it was used as a watering station for 60 years. In 1983 the fountain was restored, minus the watering troughts, and placed at the center of the intersection. An original water trough can be seen in the city park.
