Rob Wasinger. This guy wants to represent the Big First District in Kansas – that’s us and pretty much everything west of us (except for the Wichita area.) Wasinger, a Republican, was Chief of Staff to Sen. Brownback.
It’s musical chairs for Kansas politics. Wasinger wants Jerry Moran’s seat in the House. Moran wants Sam Brownback’s seat in the Senate. Brownback wants to be governor. Kathleen Sebelius gave up the governorship to be in Obama’s Cabinet. The new Governor, Mark “Hang in there, Mark” Parkinson, isn’t running, doesn’t want to keep being governor. Round and round and round she goes. Where it stops nobody knows.
It was a small parade – only about 20 entries. But this was a grassroots effort. The people wanted a holiday event in Emporia, and by golly, they created one. A good start – and something to build on for next year.
This club runs the little train down at Soden’s Grove.

Motorized recliners.
The biggest crowd-pleaser was the tank. One, it’s pretty awesome (and luckily looks out of place on our streets), and two, Emporia loves its servicemen/women.
I can’t have a tractor, a tank, or a train, but I sure would like to have one of those motorized recliners!
Hope everyone had a safe, sane, and dry 4th. Rained here all day; all fireworks displays delayed until tonight.
