When Dave and I pulled into the underground parking garage at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in KCMO on Sunday, we noticed these skylights in the ceiling.
Natural light in a parking garage, how cool.
And, even better, it had a wavy motion to it, like it was water. Very artsy.
Then as we were leaving, walking from one door of the museum over to the parking garage door, we noticed this shallow pool.
Aha.
We discovered that we were standing above the parking garage – and here were the wavy skylights we had seen from below. How cool.
And that water looks pretty cool on another day when the mercury is boiling. It’s 95 degrees, 105 if you count the heat index (and how can you not?)
OMG, next time we go up there! That is so cool. Oh gosh, now I want Larry to rebuild our roof with a pond and skylights up there.
Take off the existing roof from our house, reinforce the whole structure with steel beams. Build a flat roof, reinforced with concrete and steel. Put in large portholes/sun thingies.
Install elevator. Build a small island patio on the roof with a patio cover. Fill roof with water.
Hire someone to maintain it.
Might be easier just to build an underground hideaway with a pool/skylight roof. It could be a classy storm shelter. Or an art room.
Yes, a storm shelter/art room. Cool!
It won’t be much trouble for me though. I figure Larry and April will build it. I’ll supervise, and the rest of the FOPers will come and have a barbeque.
I haven’t asked April, but figure she loves to do construction.
If Larry’s game so am I. Who wouldn’t want to be in on a project like that?
