Elbing is a small community (about 218 people) in Butler County.
Despite it’s small size, Elbing does have a Christian school, K-12: Berean Academy.
It’s a nice campus with newish buildings.
Elbing City Hall (and Fire Department, I’ll bet.)
67041.
Elbing seemed like a social little town. I saw most of the population, I think, during my quick drive through of the town on Saturday morning. It was 65 degrees out, so the people were out. An older couple waved from their porch as I drove by, others were walking their dog, a man was reading his mail while he was walking home from the post office.
My grandfather was born in Elbing.
Looked through Berean’s website and the Principal, SH/JH Librarian, and one of the school board members are Unruh’s. Kinfolk, maybe?
The post office looks exactly–to me, anyway–as the one in Woodbine. Interesting that there is a “dish” on it…..must have to keep up with mail channels?
ksgirl: yeah, we Unruhs are all probably 3rd, 4th, 5th cousins, maybe 9 times removed, but we’re likely related somehow.
ele: when I saw that P.O., I did think of Woodbine.
You are amazing, Cheryl! NOW, if “Elbing” just had a few more letters-like “e & rown” it would be MY town! (named after me!)
