Remember the metal signs in Hoisington that I mentioned a few days ago? My cousin Brenda, who lives in Great Bend, told me that they were made by Bruce Bitter. She sent me a link about them: Pole Art.  Apparently there are 62 of them!

  1. I looked at the pole art link of the Hoisington website. They are beautiful. I wish I could see all 62 of them. I guess I’ll have to drive to Hoisington. The artist must not have his own web site; the only Bruce Bitter I could find is a painter. The blue sky backgrounds really sets them off. Cheryl, could you tell how big they are?

  2. I sent this link to our tourism people. We need to do SOMETHING here in Garnett. I think they are beautiful and really very well done and classy.

  3. April, when you come to Madison, we’ll walk over to the train depot. It’s not a long walk, you can see it from my back door. You can see those up close. There aren’t as many, but sure look similar.

  4. I was surfing the net and found this site with picture of my artwork. I designed and handcut each banner depicting the wildlife and history of cheyenne bottoms, the size is 30×48. I havent had time to build up a website, but i can email pics of my past work. Feel free to email at bbmetalarts@yahoo.com. Thanks, Bruce Bitter, B&B METAL ARTS, Hoisington, KS

  5. That’s beautiful work Bruce, and an impressive achievement – creating and cutting so many pieces. The whole town must take deep pride in them.

  6. My current commission is history of dodge city with street banners. Also, Lone Elm Park in Olathe has them at the entrance

  7. That’s cool, Bruce! So, for Dodge City, do you come up with the sketches for the banners, or do they provide them? Thanks for the update.

  8. it is a combination of both. I like to involve the city, the banner sponsors and myself to create the story the banners tell. The 13ft dragoon horse structure and 4×8 entrance limestone sign was just installed at the 69 highway/k52 junction safety rest area along the Frontier Military Scenic Byway. There will be a dedication for the newly constructed area wed 7/22/09 at 10 pm.
