This lost cat plea comes from someone else – if you find this cat contact Janet Fish by using the comments below. (She knows the owner of the cat.)

I have been feeding a very friendly stray cat in Hartford for the past
few months. I looked hard and long for a good home to be an inside cat.
My father decided to take him in. When I took him to my fathers house
in EMPORIA. He was frightened by my dads garage door and jumped out of
my arms and ran. He is an adult male GREY AND WHITE LONG HAIRED CAT.

Like I said he is very friendly. He answers to the name TAGALONG PETE.
I spent hours looking for him and gave animal control my info. He was lost from 13th and Chestnut. He is GREY AND WHITE LONG HAIRED. PLEASE, I would be glad to pay a reward of 20.00 if you can help me find him.

I have put posters up all over and will put more up tomorrow. I have called animal control and also talked to some of the neighbors. I have spent hours walking and driving the streets looking for him. He is such a good and friendly cat, but I don’t think he can defend himself from preditors. He doesnt seem to climb trees or fences to get away. I think he has a problems with his hip.

  1. This is sad! Poor kitty! During this Thanksgiving Holiday, we have (in our house) 2 cats (that are ours) 1 three legged grandkitty, 1 bischon frische granddog and a Whippett granddog. Sure hope we don’t inherit anymore stray “grand” animals.
We are hoping that we see that this poor scared lost cat has been found.

  2. If someone finds or sees this cat, please feel free to contact me too. I too can get in touch with the owner.

This cat sounds so friendly, it wouldn’t surprise me if it finds a home for itself before long.

  3. I hope someone finds him soon–it’s COLD outside tonight! He looks so much like my kitty–except mine is black where he is gray. poor kitty…

  4. There was a cat on our porch just now, eating. And it looked something like this lost cat – but the gray on the back half and the tail looked to be a little more tiger-striped than in these pictures.

Anyway, the cat knows there’s food on the porch. Maybe it’ll come back.

It’s probably just another neighborhood cat, but I’m still looking for this lost kitty.

  5. We have a cat (well several cats) that eat on our back deck & one looks a lot like the “missing cat” also——but I don’t think he came all the way to our house!!!! 🙂
We feed several cats——we even buy cat food & don’t own a cat any more!!

  6. Hi, My name is Janis, and I am the one looking for this beautiful cat. I really appreciate you all keeping your eyes open and helping me look. I miss this cat terribly. Tagalong Pete is all grey and white. There isn’t any stripes in the grey at all. I once had a cat that traveled over 14 miles to get back to me. It took her 2 months but she found me again. Even though we had only lived in the house for 1 week before she got lost. I keep thinking that Tagalong might be trying to get back to Hartford from Emporia. So no matter where you live PLEASE keep your eyes open for me. My husband keeps asking me what I want for Christmas but he already knows that answer. I didn’t realize how attached to Pete I had become.
Thanks everyone, and If I become reunited again with Tagalong Pete I will let you know.

  7. “So no matter where you live PLEASE keep your eyes open for me”

Janis——- I sure hope you find Pete——–I totally understand!!!!!

Before we moved to Branson, Mo this year——- we had a “barn cat” (only one left that the coyotes didn’t get & eat)—-& we knew we could not move the cat with us——as he was a “barn cat” who would not adjust to city life in Branson——so we made arrangements with the people who bought our farm—– that they would keep the cat & give him a good home—– we put a self feeder into a building & water & blocked open the pet door—–BUT—- when we came back to check on the house & farm before we closed on the sale of it—– someone had came on our property & stole the self feeder & closed the pet door & we could not find the cat any where—-
people had broken in & stolen things we had left there for our children & grandchildren & for friends who were to come & pick things up—but what bothered me the most–was someone coming on our land & stealing the cats food & feeder & locking the pet door so he could not get back into a safe place for him—– we also had a neighbor checking on the cat—–but he said once we had our auction & moved—— every day some one was on our property stealing things!!!!!! Someone even locked the cat out & stole his self feeder & water dish!! How low can people get????????

  8. Hi Flips, wow, that is just so sad. I am so sorry that happened to you. I guess I will never understand how people can be so cruel.

I love all animals. My husband keeps telling me we need to buy a cow and raise it for the beef. I told him no way, because within a month he would be sleeping in our utility room out of the cold.

I keep thinking someone will call and I will get Pete back. I hope so.

  9. Ele——– no he didn’t because he knew who was driving in & out of our property—most of the time when he saw some one- & they were ALL “locals”–& our neighbor did talk to the sheriff about it — as the sheriff was one of our neighbors also—-who was looking out for our property for us—— but I guess from what the sheriff & our neighbor who was watching the place for us—— it was almost like a freeway in & out our drive way!!!!!!
It was hard to tell who had done what—– but when the sheriff caught some one driving in our drive—-he went there & asked them who they were & what they were doing on our land!!!!!
But both our neighbor & the sheriff couldn’t watch our place 24 hours—- & from what we were told there were people coming & going there all the time—–all hours!!
Once we moved-it was like everyone had free rights to anything not chained down on our land!!! And felt they had the right to snoop—- or come on our place any time they wanted!!!!
The people who bought our farm—- had the sheriff—–stop them once when they were there-looking around—-before they closed on the property—–as they told us so!
We had a good sheriff & he was a good neighbor & our neighbor who watched the place for us also-was a good person—— but you can’t keep people off your land 24 hours a day——when you are not there!!!!
They did their best——- But there are some people who feel they are above the law & or it doesn’t apply to them——or totally have no respect for others & their property!

  10. Hi thenewkid, I went to the area as soon as I got word that you might have seen Pete last night. I called for him for over an hour in different areas around there, but Pete never came. But I think any critters were doing whatever they needed to do to stay out of the cold wind. It was 20 degrees when I got to the area, and that wind was horrible. I think it is suppose to be a bit warmer in a couple of days, So I will go back and call for him again. Thank you for looking for me and trying to help. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
