Program #2 is Sunday, June 22, 2 p.m. on the porch of the William Allen White House State Historic Site, 927 Exchange St. in Emporia.
Jim Hoy is the featured presenter. He will discuss ranching at the turn of the 20th century. Dr. Hoy is a professor of English at ESU and directs the Center for Great Plains Study. He has published a number of books including his most recent Flint Hills Cowboys: Tales of the Tallgrass Prairie.
The event is free. Donations are always appreciated in support of the site. Participants may opt for a tour of the historic site following the program. The porch is ADA compliant and restrooms are available in the visitor center.
We had a typical size group attending this afternoon but many new faces undoubtedly drawn because of the topic and presenter. Many good questions filled the hour.
