Dave and I just listened to Roger Heineken on KPOR, 90.7. He was speaking to Larry Vavroch about William Allen White’s prominence in Emporia history. Roger had about 15 minutes to talk about White, the man, his family, his candidacy for the governorship. He also talked about Walt Mason who worked for White and wrote the famous poem, “Little Green Tents” that the Gazette reprints every year on Memorial Day weekend.

Anyhoo, Roger was fantastic. He did an excellent job of speaking and of telling the stories of White and Mason.

If you missed it, the interview will air again this afternoon at 5:14 p.m. on 90.7 FM in the Emporia area. (I don’t know how far out the KPOR signal reaches.)

Yay, Rog!

  1. Thanks, Cheryl. I heard it at 12:14 PM just as I got out of the new Indiana Jones movie. It turned out better than I thought it might. Mr. Vavrock did a good job editing. It was a phone interview on Monday. I think Larry is out of Iowa.
