A 3-D Demolition Derby ad – at the Flint Hills Mall. And see, I also included the list of movies in the photo.

My moods are too dependent on the atmosphere, I’m afraid – and today is drizzly, wet, cold, and as gray as they come. Note the grayness in the above photo. It’s 50 degrees and foggy.

Anyway, I’ve spent the day at my computer working on my next two columns. I had fun gathering the info, so I’m enjoying writing them. But still, at the computer all day.

One bright spot to the day was hearing a George Will comment on the ABC program, “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.”

George Will said ….. there’s a 4-letter F-word that I forbid my children to use – for fear they will become liberals – and that word is ‘fair.’

So that made me laugh.

But nevertheless, the day is dreary, and Dave and I went out for an afternoon snack just to get out of the house for awhile.

“See, there’s henbit out,” Dave pointed to a yard.

It’s hard to recognize the henbit because the lavender part of the weed is hiding – lack of sunshine, I presume.

On the radio, John Mellancamp sang his “Ain’t that America” song.

“Is the title of that song “Ain’t that America” or is it “Little Pink Houses?” I asked Dave.

“Little Pink Houses,” Dave said, “Or anyway, that’s the answer I’d give if I were in “Cash Cab.”

Cash Cab” is one of our favorite shows-to-eat-supper-by. Well, that and “King of the Hill,” because “King of the Hill” is so darned funny.

Gas is $3.17 around Emporia, in case you needed to know that. A couple days ago the price dropped briefly to $3.03, but I missed that opportunity for cheap gas.

Meanwhile on TV, Emporia’s Clint Bowyer is running in 11th place in the NASCAR race. A few minutes ago, he was in 5th position. All he needs is a 10-car pileup and he’ll be No. 1.

AND – KU 30, Davidson 28 at half-time.

So, that’s what’s going on here. What’s happening with your Sunday?

Tell me something exciting. Or something boring. Whatever you’ve got. Tell me something.

  1. Let’s see, I’ll tell you something. “Cheap gas” is not $3.05 a gallon, it’s 22 cents a gallon. That’s what I paid for gas before I met Larry. Do you think it was our marriage that caused gasoline to get so expensive?

Yesterday I bought two dresses in Topeka, on sale, cheap for 2008. One was at Burlington Coat Factory for 25 bucks. The other was at the Salvation Army for 3 dollars. So, came out to 14 dollars a dress. NOt bad!

Then at the Goodwill store I found a divider type stand to display pictures in.

And we ate someplace. oh yeah, in the food court at the mall.

Today we didn’t do much. Worked on my dolls barely. Larry started to work on a few things, but didn’t do anything much either.

    Ate dinner.

Thought. Wrote email. Heard from single daughter who met a man this weekend, turned out to be a dud.

Can’t think of anything more. I imagine Roger’s post was enough to keep you from shutting the site down. But if it wasn’t maybe mine helped. LOL

  2. Well let’s see. Back and forth to the hospital a couple of times to see Grumpy. Made him his favorite chicken and rice and he ate a few bites. Went to Walmart in Ottawa and got too much stuff. Looked for socks for the big guy but of course found none big enough, not even tube socks. I did find him some t-shirts, not talls but they will do, got six for $6 each. no underwear or shorts. Gonna have to road trip to the city I guess. Got him a couple of movies to watch when he comes home and some ice cream, sherbet, toothpaste and soap, new curtains for his room and some for the dining room. Also did laundry and dishes all day and still not done. Sometimes I think dirty dishes have rabbit genes, they reproduce while sitting in the sink.

  3. Janet, you crack me up! It was your marriage that caused gas prices to soar.

My post does not contain all letters of the alphabet. What is the right sentence?

  4. yep, Janet’s right. She beat me to it.
We went to eat at the Red Lobster–had the shrimp trio (I love seafood, especially shrimp!) and shared a sinfully delectable chocolate dessert, so then we had to walk around the mall –haven’t been there for years!–to walk off that food! I didn’t buy a single thing–paying taxes and car tags and insurance will make you think–DO I REALLY NEED that?
Came home and played “Sequence” all afternoon. Went to see “Horton Hears a Who?”–cute movie. Jim Carrey and Carol Burnett make the movie. I loved the part when Horton was taking his morning bath–a Jim Carrey act for sure.

  5. Oh, I did go to the Town Crier and ordered a book and bought 3 books. It’s better to shop locally.–and if Emporia had a Red Lobster, I wouldn’t have to go to Topeka–or OP!–well, I do have to go there to see my DD.

  6. Do you feel better, Cheryl? Don’t shut us down! Now you know how I feel when you are in a funk and uninspired mode.

I don’t think I am addicted to Flyoverpeople. It seems more like over-the-back-fence neighboring. When the neighbors are on a vacation, you miss ’em and can’t wait until they get back with new stories and fun facts to share.

ele didn’t know that chompin’ on shrimp and Janet didn’t know that expanding her wardrobe would affect you this way. We feel the same when you go to Colorado and Arkansas. Maybe I should talk for myself.

Absents makes the heart grow fonder.

  7. Looks like I missed the fun last night, but I was asleep. Kinda tired. Took a lot of energy helping KU win that game. Scared the dogs once or twice when I hollered at the Hawks and the refs.

  8. haven’t got a blog yet. am going to start one as writiing is more omportant to me each day. Am trying to find Max mcoy to see if he will speak to 30 ssome writers the nigt of the5th of march. anyone know how to get to him?
