I ran into Roger at the gas station yesterday. He was distributing flyers for the upcoming Flashlight Tour of Haunted Emporia, which is, as you can see above, Friday, October 26.

Here, have a poster, Roger said.

What am I gonna do with a poster? Tack it on the window of my house?

Take a picture of it and post it on the Daily News, he said.

Well, I (sometimes) do as I’m told.

We went last year. Lots of fun. This year, there is less down-time between performances at each venue, so there will be less standing-around-in-the-cold time. (Well, maybe some of you like standing around in the cold, but not this chick.)

  1. Who said it was going to be cold that night? Thanks for posting the poster, Cheryl.

Last year 159 participated in all or part of the “Tour.” I’m hoping for at least 200 this year. We have re-tooled it and added the special dramatic reading ot Poe’s “The Tell-Tale Heart”, a tale of murder and madness. I hope “Night at the (Lyon County Historical…) Museum” will haul them in. The model trains should be fun to view by self-directed flashlight in the darkened Gothic museum. The Egyptian Mummy’s foot ought to creep people out as will tales of the Lyon County glowing tombstone.

  2. After one week of sales and a front page story in the Gazette last Monday advanced sales stand at:

    ESU Infor Center – 2 Adult @ $8 = $16.00
    LCHS – 1 Adult @ $8 + 1 Child @ $5 = $13.00
    White Site – 2 Adult @ $8 + 1 Group @ $20.00 = $36.00
Sweet Granada – No Sales Yet
    Granada Coffee – 4 Group @ $20 = $80.00

I think this is good as last year sales didn’t kick in until Wednesday before the Friday event.
