At today’s “Step Back in Time” event at the Howe House in Emporia, Jim and Marilyn Wallace of Lebo brought some of their barnyard animals.
This is Danny, a Royal Palm turkey. Walk up to him and he may scoot. He prefers to approach you. Marilyn didn’t raise him, but she said that he was raised in a house and that’s why he’s very tame.
Looks like he’s a KU fan.

Yes, thank you. that was in my notes, but I forgot to mention it. I’ll add it.
Wish we could have taken the boys, but they had to go back to the airport this morning. I’m sure it was a neat day at the Howe Hous.
Danny is a very friendly fellow – to all but Marilyn’s husband Jim. He used to follow Jim around like a dog (and will do so with visitors to the farm), but for some inexpilcable reason, Danny has recently decided to attack Jim at any opportunity. He still likes everyone else though. Poor Jim…
We use to have a turkey who chased me to the school bus each morning—if the bus driver didn’t have the bus door open when he got to our drive way—–the turkey got me!!!!!!!!!!
One day the turkey decided to chase my Dad———-no more turkey!!!!!!!!!
