There was some beautiful singin’ on the porch today at the White House, the William Allen White House State Historic site that is.
About 15-20 women from the Twin Rivers Chapter of the Sweet Adelines sang songs such as “Home on the Range,” “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
Today’s event was the first in the Sundays-in-September version of the “On the Porch” series.
Sun. Sept. 16 – History on the Porch with Lacey Whetstone
Sun. Sept. 23- Poetry on the Porch with Kevin Rabas and other local poets
Sun. Sept. 30 – Politics on the Porch with Karen Manners Smith
All programs begin at 2 p.m. and are free – although donations for the Historic Site are happily accepted.
The ladies loved the acoustics of the porch and really enjoyed the tour of Red Rocks.
