I’ve been posting photos of Western Kansas.

But, now I’m interrupting that trip to bring you photos from Northeast Kansas. Very Northeast Kansas.

On Friday afternoon, I met my mother in Troy where we waited for my brother’s family (on the BAK) to show up. So – what I’ll be posting are photos from that trip and will return to the Western Kansas photos soon.

The Troy Courthouse. Troy (pop. 1,054) is the county seat of Doniphan County. When I was memorizing counties and county seats in sixth grade, this county was an easy one to remember as Troy – Donahue/Doniphan. As a kid, I wasn’t familiar with Donahue as an actor, but I knew of his existence because his photograph came in a billfold I had purchased – his photo and one of Sandra Dee.

I had always wanted to visit this town – maybe just because I like the name, and finally, I did make it to Troy.
