I’m willing to bet that the Barton County town of Claflin (pop. 682) has more seating per capita than any town around. It is home to Miller’s of Claflin, a furniture business that fills nearly every building on two city blocks.

Why have ordinary storefronts when you can recreate old-town Claflin?

Their warehouse, a gigantic metal building on Main Street, could’ve been a bleak, boring building, but they’ve dressed up the exterior and turned it into a pretend hotel, grain elevator and bank:

And there’s an old gas station:

  1. Neat photos, Cheryl!
When I’m in Bushton next August, I may have to get over to Claflin just to see the place. During the summer of 62 I spent some time in that area working for the state when 156 was built from US 56 east of Great Bend
to K4 east of Claflin. The little cafe in Claflin had the best chocolate pie!!
