…I took my mother to the William Allen White house. 🙂

Katherine Eusey gave the tour.

“What impressed me was the books he had,” Mom said, noting his connections with authors and with history itself.

“And I liked the simplicity of the house,” she said. “There was nothing ostentatious about it.”

The William Allen White House State Historical Site is currently open on weekends, but in March the hours change to 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Wednesday – Saturday.

  1. OH! That’s interesting– her comment about the books because that’s what I noticed, too! WAW had pretty much the same books that we had at home in our house! I think I commented on that and was told that WAW was on the “board?” of the “Book of the Month” club. My mother belonged to the “BOOK of the Month” club and is an avid reader…..I read all those books, too. –only her books weren’t signed by the authors!

  2. Thank you, Cheryl, for setting the example. In this sesquicentennial year, I hope all Emporians will treat visiting friends and family to a tour of Red Rocks. The stories that house could tell!
