snow on grass

It started snowing about noon and we probably have about 3/4″ so far. The street that was clear is now snow-covered again – one step forward, two steps back.

UPDATE 3:22 p.m. TWO BILLION FLAKES

Dangit, I hate it when the weathermen are right.

Big flakes are falling like nobody’s business. I shoveled the sidewalk and when I had my back turned, it all came back. We’ve had about 3 inches so far, I’d guess.

OK, yeah, the snow is pretty and all. I just hate driving in/on it. Especially now that my car has just been released from the body shop and is all perfect again.

  1. One way I get my puppies to go outside in back is to toss a small handful of dogfood (a different brand than their regular) out onto the back porch. They rush out after it.

Well, I did that a few minutes ago. Betty stood inside looking at me like I’m nuts if I think she’s going out there. Walter rushed outside after the treats, then stood there looking puzzled, because all the little nuggets of food had sunk into the snow. LOL He’s usually resourceful, so I figured he’d dig them out, but no, he didn’t. He’s back inside, both doggies snuggled up together on a blanket. Betty is snoring.

  3. Pretty Picture, yukky subject. We’re supposed to get snow here tomorrow, anywhere from 2 to 4, which is 2-4 too much. I have one of those little block-number calendars on my desk; the date is set at march 20–first day of spring….can’t wait!

  4. For me, I say winter ends with February. Sure, it often snows in March, but by then, it’s not nearly as cold and the snow doesn’t hang around for weeks and weeks.

    Therefore, Spring begins March 1.

  5. I just went out and stuck a ruler in the snow. I have 2″. It is still snowing. Saw kids going by down the street pulling a sled.

  6. I went out and measured again. 2.5″ I was too close to the house the time before. I went to the store and almost got stuck in my driveway.

  7. …the sodium quartz on the new fallen snow gave visions of orange sherbet to objects below… It is bright out at 7 am as security and street lights reflect off Nature’s blanket.

  8. I wished I had time and my camera with me when I went out the door last night to come in to work. The pine tree next door was so pretty covered with a thick blanket of snow. Maybe when I get home I can get a picture of it. We now have an easy 4 inches, maybe more I haven’t taken time to look out the window since I got up on the run today. I’ll look soon.
