Anthony, Kansas, has a September 11 Memorial in a city park. After the terrorist attacks, the community of Anthony wanted to do something. They made contact with the family of one of the firefighters who died that day. Good will was shared and eventually this memorial was built. The story is told here. Here’s a […]

The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City. Thomas Hart Benton paintings are my favorite things here. This was the first time either of us had been in the new addition – the Bloch building. It has photography and other cool contemporary art. Outdoor sculptures. One of several shuttlecocks on the lawn.

When Dave and I pulled into the underground parking garage at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in KCMO on Sunday, we noticed these skylights in the ceiling. Natural light in a parking garage, how cool. And, even better, it had a wavy motion to it, like it was water. Very artsy. Then as we were […]

If you like your art contemporary, visit the Kemper Museum in Kansas City, MO. Spiders ‘r’ us, I guess. Photos were limited in the museum to the atrium. Outside, “The Crying Giant.”

Dave Kendall, usually seen wearing a hat, is host and executive producer of the always-popular “Sunflower Journeys” series. He came to KTWU 20-some years ago […]

A fish mobile hangs in the welcome center at Bull Shoals State Park in Northern Arkansas. Also available was a game of Dam Facts: I give up. The dam is 1,700 trout long.

In Arkansas, Mom and Dave and I stopped by Bull Shoals State Park. They’re proud of their trout. There were several record fish on display here. A fishing display. This is a nice visitor’s center, with a “green” section and a place where they tell about the building of the dam. Bless their hearts, they […]

Nina West at Toad Hollow continued the Iris Tour another weekend because of the lousy cold/wet weather last Saturday and Sunday. I think there’s a whole lot more color today than there was last Saturday. The peony was pretty loud. I liked the name of this iris: Passing Clouds. And the name of this nearly-black […]
