In a contest to find 150 great pieces of art to celebrate the sesquicentennial, SouthWind Gallery came up with works by 80 artists. That art work is on display at the gallery through Oct. 7 – and now it’s been published in this gorgeous paperback.

You can take a look at the book online here.

It can be purchased online here for $19.95, or at SouthWind Gallery, 3074 SW 29th in Topeka.

  1. Kansas = South wind. Kansa/Kansas is a Sioux word meaning “people of the south wind.” And, yes, most of the time, in the spring/summer anyway, the wind does come from the south.

  2. The Shear wind and golf ball-sized hail that destroyed my brother and sister-in-law’s house last Friday came from the north-northeast.
