In a contest to find 150 great pieces of art to celebrate the sesquicentennial, SouthWind Gallery came up with works by 80 artists. That art work is on display at the gallery through Oct. 7 – and now it’s been published in this gorgeous paperback.

Did they name SouthWind Gallery because the wind in your state most times comes from the south?
Kansas = South wind. Kansa/Kansas is a Sioux word meaning “people of the south wind.” And, yes, most of the time, in the spring/summer anyway, the wind does come from the south.
